Description:
Created in the first half of the 19th century, Budapest’s City Park (Városliget) Ice Skating Rink is Central Europe’s biggest. In the summer, the facility is converted into a lake for boat rides, festivals and other events. The renovation of the 16,800 m2 ice-rink, the reception building and an unrestored wing of the old building, destroyed during WW2, prepared the facility for the 2012 European Speed Skating Championship. Extreme temperature differences (winter/summer, day/night) and the proximity of water to the concrete posed key challenges for the project.
Products Used:
PENETRON ADMIX was used to waterproof the public utility tunnels, 4,000m3 of concrete exposed to about 1m of water on the lake side and 2.5-3.0m of ground water. The hairline cracks that developed during concrete hydration were completely sealed within days after ponding the slab.
Description:
The Airports Authority of India (AAI), responsible for the modernization and upgrading of airport projects in India, specified the use of the PENETRON System for the expansion project of the Chennai International Airport.
Products Used:
PENETRON DAMIX, PENEBAR SW 45 and other PENETRON System products were used for both above ground and below ground structures.
Description:
A transport and retail facility, the Chatswood Transport Interchange (CTI) is part of the Epping to Chatswood Rail Line. The new railway station project accommodates the existing North Shore Line and the new Epping to Chatswood Rail Line; upgraded the bus interchange and taxi ranks, and includes a retail center with food shop and three residential towers with 509 units and a basement car garage.
Products Used:
To effectively protect the concrete structure, PENETRON ADMIX was used to waterproof all below ground structures, including elevator pits and tanks and the above ground areas, including suspended slabs and car park decks.
Description:
Located in Fortaleza in the state of Ceará, the Plácido Aderaldo Castelo Branco Arena, or simply Castelão, is one of the soccer stadiums used in the Confederation Cup 2013 and also set for the FIFA World Cup in 2014. The old stadium was totally refurbished to meet the modern FIFA requirements.
Products Used:
PENETRON ADMIX and PENEBAR SW-55 were used in 60,000m3 of the slab around the stadium to increase the durability of the concrete.
Description:
The Casino Enjoy Antofagasta facility features a 5-star hotel and casino, including a large underground parking area. The resort is located 700 miles north of Santiago in the port city of Antofagasta.
Products Used:
The project included waterproofing with PENETRON PLUS in the foundation slab at a dosage of 0.7kg/m2.
Description:
A stone’s throw from Melaka’s UNESCO-protected historic city center, Casa del Rio is a modern boutique hotel with Mediterranean charm boasting 66 luxuriously appointed rooms with unforgettable views. Drawing from the Portuguese heritage of Melaka and the Melaka Sultanate, the design blends history with 21st century guest needs.
Products Used:
High hydrostatic pressure from Melaka River water and potential chloride and sulphate attack by seawater from the Malacca Straits required special protection of the basement parking garage and the entire substructure of the hotel. Approximately 3,830m3 of concrete were treated with PENETRON ADMIX. The remaining 7,442m2 basement area, wet areas and bathrooms were coated with PENETRON.
