Description:
At the Yashwant Glucose Co-op. Ltd., concrete steeping vats are utilized for boiling maize grains prior to recovery of the starch. The process is done at 70°C with SO2 gas, forming sulphuric acid, which affects the concrete surface (pH -2.8 to 4).
Products Used:
PENETRON products were used to waterproof and protect concrete surface from chemical action. The total treated area was about 1,000m2, and 300m of construction joints.
Description:
Olefini, a Greek manufacturer of air curtains, fan coils, fan heaters, plastic fans, ventilation equipment, air conditioning and heating accessories, had a problem at its new plant near the Mediterranean Sea. A concrete ramp, located 3m below sea level, was leaking seawater through numerous cracks due to high water pressure. Repairs had been attempted previously with conventional cement-based waterproofing products (at a thickness of 2cm), but the problem remained.
Products Used:
PENENTRON and PENEPLUG were successfully applied to solve the leaking. A drain pipe was used to alleviate water pressure during the waterproofing process.
Description:
One of the largest ethanol production facilities in the USA, Northeast Biofuels will use 41 million bushels of corn annually to produce 114 million gallons of ethanol. This New York facility will be a major part of ethanol's expansion beyond the Midwest corn states; the ethanol will be marketed primarily in New York State and the Northeast as a clean-burning, oil-saving gasoline additive.
Products Used:
Key concrete structures at the facility were treated with PENETRON ADMIX to ensure they would be protected from water intrusion and other damaging effects.
Description:
To facilitate its global expansion into international markets, Krivorozhstal, the Ukraine's largest producer of metal products such as steel and pig iron, upgraded its facilities to meet international manufacturing standards. The Chief Engineer of the Krivorozhstal Construction Department stated: "Our production facilities require the best protection to ensure the highest durability for years to come. PENETRON materials have proven to be of the highest quality and reliability."
Products Used:
PENETRON products were used on all of the major components of the complex: four blast furnaces, one of which is the largest in the Ukraine, with a capacity to convert up to 5,000 m3 of pig iron, three rolling shops, sump areas, a 1km underpass and other facilities.
Description:
The expansion of the new refinery unit of Hellenic Petroleum Company included an underground network to collect and recirculate residual products from the refinery, and the construction and sealing/repairing of 1,000 reinforced concrete wells (total volume: 4,000m3). The reinforced concrete was fully sealed and protected from corrosion, concrete carbonation and chloride penetration to deal with the area’s corrosive ground water. An additional requirement was protection against chemical attack from the high chemical load of the plants’ refined by-products.
Products Used:
PENETRON ADMIX was specified for all waterproofing and protection requirements. PENETRON GROUT and PENEBAR swellable-type waterstops were used to waterproof, seal and anchor the connection between the concrete wells and metal pipes (ø 100-800mm).
Description:
Cargill Agri Purina, a division of Cargill, one of the largest food processing companies in the world, constructed a new feed mill at Pyungtaek, Dangjin Harbor foreign investment zone. The Cargill feed mill serves the Korean livestock industry and is the largest feed mill worldwide with a production capacity of 870,000 metric tons per year. The project site is directly adjacent to the sea, creating a challenging environment for construction due to the area’s high underground water pressure.
Products Used:
PENETRON ADMIX was used in all the basement and belowground wall structures to protect against water penetration. The PENETRON ADMIX-treated concrete effectively protected the structure from high hydrostatic pressure.
Description:
Located on the banks of the Tungabhadra River in an area with an extremely high water table, the BMM Ispat steel plant required waterproofing treatment for an area of over 20,000m2. This included underground tunnels, the wagon tippler foundation and the adjacent power plant water treatment structures.
Products Used:
PENETRON and PENEBAR were used to waterproof all structures to eliminate concrete permeability and enhance concrete durability for protection against reinforcement corrosion and chloride ion penetration.
